WE’RE PAYING MORE, SO THE PLANET PAYS LESS
Tell you what’s more ridiculous than selling plastic water bottles?
Creating a campaign that highlights how much money you lose by NOT selling plastic bottles.
We’re on a mission to make sustainable retail the norm – and to remove single-use plastics from everyday life. That’s why in 2022, we stopped selling single-use plastic water bottles and replaced them with free still and sparkling water stations. Since then, we’ve quite literally lost millions in revenue… but it’s not enough.
On World Water Day in May, we asked our community to make our water bill even bigger and $355,132 was added to our water bill in 9 days…
To keep us yapping and our taps running, we held a buy-1-get-1 offer on a random Wednesday for anyone who filled up their reusable bottles at our water stations, and over 100,000 people came in to claim it! Dare we say our biggest promo ever?!
Safe (and proud) to say, we blew the lid off in other ways too:
We’re so proud to have so many people care about this mission and beyond happy to remind everyone that every drop counts and that we’re all in this together.
The mission isn’t over yet… we still need more businesses to jump on board with us and beat our bill. We’re daring other companies to follow in our footsteps and beat our bill – but to convince them, we’ll need your help. Ask them to do better than us and outshine our (crazy high) water costs by cutting out plastic water bottles and providing free drinking water instead. Be part of something bigger and help us get them in on the mission.
We’ve drafted a message below (you’re welcome), so all you need to do is pick a company (or a few, if you’re an overachiever) you want on board, and send it their way — emails, DMs, billboards, carrier pigeon, whatever it takes to get the message seen.
Dear ________
My name is ___________ and I love your ___________. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but since Yo-Chi stopped selling bottled water in 2022 and started providing free drinking water instead, they’ll have lost up to $10 million in revenue by the end of this year. It’s a lot of money, but think about how many plastic bottles have been saved from landfill in that time. The free still and sparkling water also happens to be delicious, and it brings the community together — because anyone can come in and fill up for free. Yo-Chi has said it’s had a massive impact on the vibes in store and on the environment. In other words, their great big water bill is worth it.
My question is, do you have what it takes to beat their bill? From March 22 – March 31, Yo-Chi is asking us to come in and drink even more water so that their ‘water bill’ can be even higher. And now, I’m asking you to do even better than that: stop selling plastic water bottles and provide free drinking water instead. I’m begging you. I already love you, but I could love you even more.
Liquid regards,
Thank you for fighting alongside us in this reusable revolution. Stay hydrated, educated and share the chi.
